If you are wondering where the name came from or the inspiration behind the size… during WW2 Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt were presented with two fifty inch globes. They were seen as a sign of friendship in an intensely difficult period of the war, and have since come to symbolise their owners; two important figures in our history. Our Churchill globe is inspired by its original namesake in terms of appearance and size and combines the classic techniques used in the making of the original with a modern design and the technology and durability of modern construction.

The Churchill globe sits on a rolled base made from hand-turned oak and hardwood, fitted with revolutionary bearings, allowing a fluid 360-degree rotating motion. Finished with immaculate attention to detail, the globe is hand painted with many layers of pigment, and strong varnish providing a deep colour and an enduring finish.
As with all Bellerby globes, each one is painted by hand in our London studio – so can be individually tailored to suit taste and requirements.
